The jihadists are now just over 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the northern edges of Aleppo city, edging closer to the front line where pro-regime forces are positioned, including the Sheikh Najjar industrial zone.

Meanwhile, the US State Department has explained its decision to stop training moderate Syrian rebels.

In its first comments on recent Russian airstrikes in Syria, the Cairo-based Arab League on Thursday declared that foreign intervention would not help resolve the ongoing conflict in the war-torn country.

While USA officials have talked of coordinating efforts with Russian Federation to defeat the IS forces that have been the West’s primary concern, Moscow’s target selection so far indicates little common objective with Washington.
