Scouting the Gamecocks’ next opponent: LSU Tigers

LSU’s 44-22 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday night was closer than the experts predicted, but it was still a good win leading up to LSU’s clash with South Carolina next weekend.

Another valid argument. Peterson has also been wildly more successful in his career than Benson.

The big question entering LSU’s game against Eastern Michigan: Would running back Leonard Fournette get the single-game school record against the nation’s worst rushing defense? The Tigers totaled 11 sacks in eight SEC games last season. He also shredded Arkansas by completing 75 percent of his throws for an average of almost 13 yards per completion.

Eventually, Leonard Fournette, held to just 93 yards at the half, took over the game, scoring two touchdowns, including a 75-yard run twelve seconds into the third quarter. “There’s not a time you hand him the ball that he doesn’t have the opportunity to hit a home run”.

But Harris had a chance to rectify LSU’s woes through the air late in the third quarter. In his freshman season, Fournette finished with 1,034 yards on 187 carries and 10 TDs.

“Certainly we were not ideal”, LSU coach Les Miles said. Backup tailback Derrius Guice added 34 yards on three carries on the drive.

“We took them lightly due to their record, because they never did anything”, Fournette said.

LSU’s alternative to Fournette on offense – the passing game – went backwards. There were quite a few drops, though, as he usually threw the ball accurately.

Over the years there have been a number of backs who have put up huge numbers in college and did nothing once they got to the NFL.

It could happen. Everybody’s All-American – especially in Baton Rouge – comes into Saturday’s Eastern Michigan game with 631 yards through his first three games. Then Roback caught the two two-point conversion pass from wide receiver Eddie Daugherty to get the Eagles within 30-22. He was slinging it all over the joint, but particularly to Josh Doctson, who snagged eighteen passes and three of Boykin’s four touchdowns. That might not be fair, either, but the 200-plus yards he could have had in that game could ultimately be the difference between reaching and not reaching the 2,000-yard milestone that will matter to less discerning Heisman voters.

Fournette had three 100-yard games last season before really breaking onto the national circuit against Texas A&M in LSU’s final game of the regular season.

LSU increased the lead to 14-0 at the 7:18 mark of the first quarter on a 21-yard dash by Harris.

Placekicker Trent Domingue hit a 26-yard field goal to give the Tigers a 17-0 advantage with 6:45 remaining in the first half, capping a 66-yard, nine-play drive. So, with this aspect being that most people pass over the tips onto the gaming now and have a stride back and don’t overlook the fact that to truly enjoy ourselves. Two plays later, the Eagles were within 17-14 with 2:10 to go.

S – After getting whistled for 14 of them last week, LSU’s goal is zero this week.

The Tigers looked sloppy at times and suffered another seven penalties. “It’s not as serious as the missing of a half might seem”, Miles said….

“Really looking forward to sinking our teeth into an SEC opponent”, he said.

“I know they’re an outstanding program and a very talented team”, Creighton said.
