Sushma Swaraj rejects Pakistan peace plan, calls for revival of militancy
Underlining Pakistan’s failure to bring the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks to justice, Swaraj, who addressed the UNGA in Hindi, said India remained open to dialogue but this could not go hand in hand with terrorism.

However, Indian rejected the Pakistani premier’s proposals and alleged that Pakistan was sponsoring terror activities in India. The world body is unlikely to be influenced by Sharif’s rhetoric as it knows only too well that it is not demilitarisation of Kashmir but delinking of Pakistan from terrorism that is the need of the hour. “This is because durable peace and stability in the region depends on a just and lasting settlement of this dispute in accordance with the resolutions of the UN Security Council”, Ahmed said.
Addressing the UN General Assembly on Thursday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj spelled out India’s one point peace proposal to Pakistan: to give up terror.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, Sharif outlined a four-point initiative to de-escalate tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries which have fought three full-scale wars since they gained independence from Britain in 1947. “Over 100,000 Kashmiris have been killed, thousands of women widowed and raped, and children orphaned by this brutal occupation and the most egregious form of state terrorism by India”, read the letter. “If the response is serious and credible, India is prepared to address all outstanding issues through bilateral dialogue”.
Sharif had also said Pakistan is the “primary victim” of terrorism.
She claimed Pakistan uses terrorism as a “legitimate instrument of statecraft”.
He said “cooperation, not confrontation, ” should define the India-Pakistan relationship. The world watches with concern as its consequences have spread beyond its immediate neighbourhood.
India issued a swift rebuttal, accusing Pakistan of claiming to be the first sufferer of terrorism whereas “in fact, it’s truly a sufferer of its personal coverage of breeding and sponsoring terrorists”.
Talking to PTV News here on Friday, she said the prime minister presented four-point peace agenda before global community, but the Indian government’s reaction was disappointing.
In last month’s cancelled talks, India wanted to only discuss terrorism-related issues.

He added that Pakistan is committed to resumption of reconciliation process in Afghanistan. “Blaming neighbours is not a solution”, he said.
