Amtrak: Pets Welcome Aboard Northeast Regional, Downeaster
“So many people find themselves in extremely hard situations when they have no one to care for a pet when they’re traveling or need to permanently relocate”. Reservations are now available for travel beginning Monday, October 12.

The pilot program will be expanded along the Northeast Corridor and New England.
Amtrak announced Thursday that small pets will be allowed on Northeast Regional train.

Amtrak is letting all passengers bring their pets aboard trains in Virginia starting next week.
Starting next week, riders on a few Amtrak trains through Philadelphia will be able to bring their pets on board. Pets in carriers must weigh 20 pounds or less and be placed underneath the pet owner’s seat. Pets must also be at least 8 weeks old and have all their vaccinations.
The move, described as a pilot program, follows a successful similar program on trains in Illinois.

Amtrak said advance reservations, with a $25 surcharge, are required. Passengers must come 30 minutes of time just before instruct aside to effectively check-in for a permit inhibit and signal your pet agreement sort. Upon completion of this program, continuation on the corridor and expansion to additional routes will be considered in early 2016.
