Sports Business Journal’s Daniel Kaplan reports that a prospective NFL stadium in St. Louis agreed to a 20-year, $158 million naming rights deal with National vehicle Rental.

St. Louis certainly seems to have the best plan in place for a new stadium of any of the three cities with teams chasing Los Angeles.

“This naming rights agreement delivers a vital asset to our effort, and that’s additional financial certainty for the project that may flow through the team or stadium authority, depending on negotiations”, Peacock said.

“National auto Rental and its target customers are a great match with the NFL and its fan base”, said Patrick T. Farrell, chief marketing and communications officer for Enterprise Holdings, which is the parent company of National vehicle Rental, as well as the Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Alamo Rent A vehicle brands.

Edward Jones officials did not return requests for comment on the matter. The Rams, Chargers and Raiders are all in the mix to move to Los Angeles, but at least 24 of the NFL’s 32 owners would have to approve relocation.

Kaldi’s Coliseum – St. Louis has a rich coffee history, so why not name the stadium after a local coffee company with plenty of passionate fans? Efforts between the Rams and the agency that operates the dome to broker an upgrade went nowhere. Enterprise Holdings President and CEO Pamela Nicholson says this decision is about much more than a name.
