U.S. Air Force airman Spencer Stone, one of the three Americans who thwarted an August train attack in France, was stabbed several times during a fight outside a Sacramento bar early on Thursday and was hospitalized in serious condition, police said. He is expected to make a full recovery.

“Given his history of recent events, he’s quite a fighter”, Kirk said.
“This incident is a very unfortunate altercation between two groups of folks who were enjoying the nightlife in Midtown Sacramento”, said Sacramento Police Chief Ken Bernard.
Stone was out with friends in his hometown when a confrontation took place between his friends and another group outside Badlands, a local gay club.
He added that the case is still under investigation.
The police department suggested that the incident began as a “verbal argument” which turned into a physical fight, and there are suspicions alcohol may have been involved. The tall man we have highlighted backing away is Stone, throwing punches as he’s being attacked. There was conversation and then it continued down the block to where the stabbing occurred.
Officers initially thought Stone would not survive the stabbing.
Doctors expect Stone to fully recover. No-one else was injured in the incident. The suspects are described as two Asian men in white shirts and blue jeans.
A young American who helped stop a gunman on a Paris-bound train this summer says he’s sending prayers to one of two childhood friends who helped thwart the attack after he was stabbed outside a California bar. They previously had been awarded France’s highest honour by President Francois Hollande.
Stone suffered significant injuries while confronting Khazzani, including a gash in his neck that required 20 staples to close and a severed tendon in his left thumb that still hasn’t healed. “We didn’t think they were gonna fight, and that’s when I started walking back to the store”, he said.
According to the Sacramento News & Review, Stone was fighting off six men to protect a woman. The vehicle was provided by the show, but the keys were presented by Golden State Warriors player Klay Thompson. Stone, an avid Warriors fan, was also given tickets to the Warriors regular season opening game on October 27. They told The Washington Post in an interview that night that they planned to travel afterward to the West Coast to Roseburg, Oregon, where a gunman killed nine people before killing himself.

It is unclear if the CCTV footage shows the moment Mr Stone was stabbed.
