Royal officials say queen may move out of Buckingham Palace during major repairs

But it’s downright cheap compared to proposed renovations to the palace of Westminster, where Parliament meets.

Yahoo News added that the monarchy costs taxpayers 35.7 million pounds in the year to March 31 that is equivalent to 56 pence per person which was still unchanged from the year before.

Then, the teenage Princess Elizabeth and her sister Princess Margaret moved to Windsor Castle in Berkshire, a countryside residence that the queen frequently visits on weekends.

As Queen Elizabeth touched down in Germany on Wednesday, it was revealed that she may have to temporarily move out of Buckingham Palace.

The details of the renovation came out in this year’s Royal Accounts, which also hold details about the Royal family’s expenditure over the year, and how much it’s likely to cost us. “We will continue to work closely with the Royal Trustees to ensure that the funding for the Royal Household reflects that challenge”.

Ex- Royal Press Secretary Dickie Arbiter has described the maintenance required at Buckingham Palace and said “bits of the building keep falling off”.
