November 9, 2014; Detroit, MI, U.S.; Miami Dolphins tight ends coach Dan Campbell against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. “I have to change the culture, and that’s what I intend to do”.
Dan Campbell thinks the Dolphins need a more aggressive, intense, competitive environment, and he plans to provide it.
Campbell becomes the eighth coach since 2004 for the Dolphins, who havent won a playoff game since 2000. On Wednesday, he showed the team and the media that he is not going to ease into the transition, immediately getting the players moving, hitting, and working.
With tension and frustration mounting inside the organization before Sunday’s abysmal loss to the New York Jets, National Football Post reported that Tannehill has been feeling the pressure.
The Dolphins, now 1-3 on the year and in last place in the AFC East, next face the Tennessee Titans on October 18.
While the Canes entered this season with modest expectations, the Dolphins and their fans had dreams of the playoffs. “We knew where our weaknesses were and we thought we could overcome those weaknesses, and develop players that could play at that level”. “I can’t say enough good things”.
“Campbell has served as Miami’s tight ends coach for the past five seasons”. Philbin wanted the scout team defensive players to “take it easy” in practice, but a few did not listen.
“Certainly you’d always love it sooner than later”, Campbell said of staff decisions. “We felt like this was the best opportunity to make a change and make an impact this season”, he said.
“You can’t just go through the motions through the week and turn it on (on Sunday)”, he said. He has three years head coaching experience in San Diego and has spent most of his career as an assistant head coach or an offensive coordinatory.
But even after this years dismal start, Ross said, the decision to fire Philbin was hard.
Lazor was quarterbacks coach in Washington from 2006-07 when Saunders was assistant head coach and they are reportedly close.

Campbell’s enthusiasm and willingness to address the team’s shortcomings enabled him to endear himself to his audience.
