Kansas State quarterback Joe Hubener loses it after fumble vs TCU

TCU’s players spent the week laughing in practice, joking in team meetings, and coach Gary Patterson kept warning them about overlooking a trip to Kansas State.

For good measure, Florida’s defense added the final points of the night on a 40-yard touchdown return by Jalen Tabor after an interception of Missouri quarterback Drew Lock. In the first half, they kicked our butts to be honest with you. Baylor’s offense has started humming along, and I think they cover the 44 Vegas is giving KU.

Boykin also ran for 124 yards and two scores for the Horned Frogs (6-0, 3-0 Big 12), who trailed 35-17 at the break.

Last season at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth in a blackout game, Boykin had one of his most incredible highlight moments when he flipped into the end zone for a touchdown.

But Kansas State, as it so often does, struck back. It was the humanitarian thing to do except that – and please don’t repeat this – it would have been kind of cool to see a team score in triple digits.

TCU knows they can’t sleep on Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder, especially with the way he prepares his team for big games. “It is hard just to win so we just tried to win“. The Wildcats offense is led by QB Joe Hubener, and they have the home field advantage today.

Taking over on the 24, a 13 yard pass from Hubener to Burton and a 7 yard run from Hubener would set up Jones to once again punch it in from 7 yards out to give the Wildcats a 28-17 lead. Can the team be in one piece to handle the firepower?

WVU is second in the nation and first in the Big 12 with 10 interceptions on the year. Teammate Kareem Hunt, playing in just his second game this season after being slowed by a hamstring injury, scored two touchdowns and finished with 85 yards on 16 carries.

The Wildcats refused to be rattled, though. The junior led a K-State ground attack that was responsible for controlling the clock, dominating the time of possession and essentially keeping the ball out of TCU’s hands.

On winning close games: “Well, let’s look at Texas”.

Needing a spark to silence the third-largest crowd in Kansas State history, the Horned Frogs got it immediately out of the half.

Meanwhile, he completed five of 18 pass attempts in the second half for 56 yards.

“Our defense is as good as it’s been since I have been here”, Holgorsen said. “It gave us hope”. Doctson caught 155 of Boykin’s passing yards, the fourth straight game he’s gone over the century mark. In order for Kansas State to even have a shot, it will have to rack up at least 450 offensive yards, and that’s not very likely. And you couldn’t have been blamed for thinking that Saturday would be the night the depleted TCU defense would meet its match and the Horned Frogs would fall from the ranks of the unbeaten. But the drive stalled, and Cantele’s 37-yard field goal knotted the game 45-all with 1:52 left. The Cyclones won their Big 12 opener for the first time since 2012.

I’m not sure if it’s legal to criticize Kansas State coach Bill Snyder in this state, so I’m going to risk breaking the law here.

Snyder chose the field goal try, fully aware of how much time Boykin and TCU would have to make something happen. It is one of those ballgames where you are going to get the other team’s best shot.
