Chaos and confusion reigned supreme in the House after BJP members thrashed Rashid.

Ahead of question hour, Rashid was seated when BJP MLAs Rajiv Sharma, Gagan Bhagat and Ravinder Raina rushed toward him and started trashing.
Reacting to the incident, opposition leader and former chief minister Omar Abdullah said what was witnessed in the house today was unprecedented.
In a statement issued, Karra said deplorable action by the BJP legislators in the Assembly has not only brought shame to the House and the PDP-BJP alliance, but the outrageous action of the BJP legislators is nearly akin to the lynching of Mohammad Ikhlaq of Dadri, UP. “You are murdering people in broad daylight”. Rashid had yesterday hosted a beef party right here in defiance of the High Court order directing implementation of provisions to ban beef and stated that no courts or legislature can forestall the individuals from consuming what they need.
Accusing the attack, CM said that sentiments are apart. “I condemn the incident in the House”. It is not good. “I had no intention of hurting anyone’s sentiments”, he added. But when Singh refused to do it again, they staged walkout.
TV footage showed Ravindra Raina of the BJP getting up from his seat and attacking Rasheed while Opposition members intervened to rescue the latter. “If he had done anything that was objectionable that should have been put on record”, Omar said. “I feel sorry on behalf of my party over the act that took place in the House”, Singh said while putting the controversy to rest. Several BJP legislators, who also stay in the hostel, had been looking for him since then. As soon as I entered the House, the BJP members attacked me. This triggered massive resentment among Muslims of the State.
“We have apprehensions that this bill will not be taken up”.
