The striker’s seven goals were a huge factor in the Irish qualifying for their first major tournament since 1986, but he has struggled to get a look-in this season at club level.

Lafferty has granted which he have to consider his choices if…
‘I think everybody’s happy just to be there, ‘ responded the 28-year-old.
“For me, if we get Argentina that would be unbelievable”, he said with tongue firmly in cheek.
“Or even Brazil. Neymar would be good to come up against”.
“It’s been a long, long journey for me in my career”, he said. It would be interesting. And there was no better place to do it than in front of our fans, who have pushed us all along this campaign. But for me it’s Argentina or Brazil’.
“I’ve never played against them and I’d like to in France”, Lafferty deadpanned in response.
And the jokes don’t end there, with Lafferty then pulling a “what are those?” prank on the unfortunate presenter.
Despite his antics Lafferty does have serious matters to address ahead of the tournament.
Lafferty is quoted as saying by The Mirror: “I took an option to go out on loan in the second half of last season and maybe it’s backfired”.
The 28-year-old and his teammates will have a chance to test themselves against the elite during next summer’s tournament in France and the prospect of facing two opponents in particular sparked Lafferty’s excitement.

“It is frustrating. I am doing the right things, heading in the right direction, but you can only do so much”, added the former Rangers striker.
