People will not notice A9 battery life variation between iPhones
Apple designed the A9 chip in-house, but manufacturing is handled by third party fabs. That’s not an insignificant difference, but if you ask Apple – and TechCrunch did – the benchmarks being used to test battery life are not indicative of real-world usage.

After watching both videos, it is safe to say that the difference between the two models in real world usage are minimal.
Another test from YouTuber Austin Evans apparently found a few differences in performance, and with the TSMC chip running cooler.
Apple’s new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are again in the news due to a difference in performance between the models featuring different makes of the new 64-bit A9 chips. There have been reports that iPhone 6S phone made of the TSMC chip boast of a better battery life. But it’s also pointing out that the side-by-side battery tests most people are relying on aren’t representative of real-world use-which, to be totally fair, they aren’t. In an official statement, the company said they don’t reflect real life use.
According to the details shared by Apple in its fine print, the SIM-free units of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will work on a number of USA wireless networks including the AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint networks. It’s a point of frustration for users who are noticing considerable less run time on their Samsung-based iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models compared to their previous non-s versions.
If you’ve got an iPhone 6S and want to check whether it has a TMSC or Samsung chip, you can do so by installing this app, users on Reddit are advising. Vodafone India today revealed that it is all set to offer the latest Apple devices – iPhone 6S and 6S plus starting from October 16.
This year, supply shortages could have forced Apple to rely on two different companies to provide the A9 chips.

Fruity cargo cult Apple has taken the odd step of actually refuting the claims and denied that the Samsung chips burn more juice. That said, Apple are still palming it off, saying that the tests undertaken by others aren’t relevant.
