House hardliner: We would consider Ryan for House speaker
“Chairman Ryan appreciates the support he’s getting from his colleagues but is still not running for speaker”, Buck said.

DesJarlais contends that he and his fellow House Freedom Caucus members should not be criticized for the conservative principles they expect from the speaker.
In fact, Webster led a coup attempt against Boehner earlier this year, and was stripped of his committee assignment shortly thereafter. But the fragile, theoretical consensus falls apart over just how the speaker should wield power.
“The most recent development in the speaker’s race plus the compressed time frame to come to a resolution increases the chances of a policy mistake around the debt ceiling”, said Libby Cantrill, an analyst for Pacific Investment Management Co. Rep. Fred Upton said: “He needs to do this for the team, that’s what we are all telling him”. There are other candidates for the job that’s second-in-line to the presidency, but the path forward for now seems to rest on Ryan’s answer.
“If Paul Ryan gets in the race, I’m a huge fan of Paul Ryan, I will support Paul Ryan”.
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy – heir-apparent to John Boehner – abruptly withdrew from the speaker’s race. He added that members of the conservative Freedom Caucus, which often challenged Boehner, have told him they would vote for Ryan.
A leadership crisis resulted, with Ryan the only person widely deemed acceptable to fill it – under certain conditions. Since McCarthy dropped out, Ryan has received more endorsements than any other candidate, with the primary hurdle being Ryan’s repeated statements indicating he was not interested in the job.
“If he decides to do it, he’d be an awesome Speaker”. This Republican demanded anonymity to discuss private considerations.
In an appearance Friday on MSNBC, the combative San Diego County Republican said he’s potentially a candidate.
But Ryan, who still has small children, has indicated he doesn’t want to take the time away from his family that the job requires.
“Of course we’re willing to compromise”, Jordan said. “He’s going to have the same problems that John Boehner had and Kevin McCarthy was about to experience”.
When asked about what the Caucus would do if one of the Republicans floated the idea of passing justice reform or fixing the Voting Rights Act, Chairman Butterfield said the Caucus would have to think about it but he wouldn’t dismiss it. NPR’s Susan Davis reports that would most likely be a retiring member, of which there are only a handful.
“It’s not about the who, it’s about the what”, Labrador told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday. “As Gutierrez once declared, “I have only one loyalty … and that’s to the immigrant community, ‘” Breitbart News” Julia Hahn said Friday.
“The sum and substance of what they want is to really dramatically weaken the office of the speaker”, King said in a telephone interview.
“Paul Ryan is a fine person”.
“Although he’s ruled himself out, it’s very clear he’s reconsidering”, Representative Darrell Issa of California said of Ryan as he left a closed-door meeting of House Republicans.
