In what could be called unstable weather conditions Egypt faced a sandstorm in the northern part of the country followed by 5.2 magnitude seism.

The Civil Aviation Minister Hossam Kamel said that all the airports were closed near Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh.

Egypt’s head of the Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics Research confirmed the quake struck at 5:34PM local time and warned that aftershocks are expected.

According to Al Jazeera, the quake was also felt strongly in Cairo.

Israel appears to have experienced a mild seism on Saturday after numerous reports from Eilat and other towns said that the ground shook. Some wondered which of the 10 Biblical plagues would come next, while the popular Zamalek football club tweeted that it wasn’t actually an earthquake-just preparation for their match tonight.
