Denmark eventually pulled one back in the first minute of stoppage time when Erik Sviatchenko curled one past Mandanda from the edge of the area.

Back in the starting line-up and Giroud was the star, netting two early goals as Denmark seemingly had their thoughts elsewhere.

Here is how Denmark and France will line up for this evening’s game.

Romania have joined Northern Ireland in France, following a 3-0 win in the Faroe Islands, but Michael O’Neill’s side go through as group winners following their 1-1 draw in Finland.

France do not need to worry about qualifying for next summer’s European Championships as the host nation of the tournament and are therefore able to use the worldwide breaks to experiment with the squad.

It could have been worse for Denmark after half an hour when Raphael Varane headed Antoine Griezmann’s cross narrowly wide.

Denmark came close to reducing the deficit in the 28th minute but Steve Mandanda was on hand to keep out Christian Eriksen’s effort from distance.

Just moments before the game, Denmark have been dealt a major blow.

Giroud should have completed his hat-trick 24 minutes from time, as he attempted to chip Schmeichel when through on goal and shot straight at the Leicester City goalkeeper.

Martial sent a half-volley over the bar in the closing stages as France looked likely to saunter to the final whistle, but Sviatchenko’s long-range effort that found the top corner made it a more nervous finish than Deschamps would have liked.
