Quincy Marina Fire Sinks Several Boats, Damages Others

The owner of the boat where the fire started was beginning to “winterize” the boat while his wife was in the shower, Quincy Fire Chief Joseph Barron told reporters at the Captain’s Cove marina. Quincy firefighters arrived within minutes and were able to hit the burning boats with a pair of hoses even as they were held back by fire on the surrounding pier, Smyth said.

Dozens of firefighters battled a two-alarm fire that spread across at least five boats at a marina in Quincy, Massachusetts, Thursday morning, according to the Quincy Police Department. The fire was finally contained about an hour later, and no injuries have been reported, he said.

The Boston fire department’s marine unit assisted in putting the flames out.

Tamara Silivia and Justin Lowery lost the 26- foot “Four Winds” that they lived on.

The exact cause remains under investigation.

“We’re still going to do this”, he said. “Whatever we had left was in there”, she said.
