His “Gotham” role adds further clarity to Oswald’s backstory – Carol Kane plays the villain’s mother. But his father hasn’t been mentioned much if at all. We just found out that I do have a father.
“He will be showing up very soon”, Taylor teased, before letting his fan enthusiasm out.
When breaking the big news to the audience at NYCC, Taylor shouted “Pee-Wee Herman is playing my Dad!” “What the hell? Oh my god!”
According to Entertainment Weekly, at this point the excitement became so intense that Erin Richards, who plays Barbara Gordon on the show, had to grab a nearby name card so that she could fan herself down. Reubens brought the Penguin’s father to life in Tim Burton’s 1992 film, Batman Returns.
Reubens will make his debut on Gotham during Season 2, which is now underway.
We’ll also have more from the Gotham portion of event, as well as the other shows covered in the WB TV panel, soon.
Reubens, who is best known for the iconic character Pee-wee Herman, actually played Penguin’s father once before.
There are a pair of separate highlights to share today when it comes to “Gotham” holding a brand-new panel at New York Comic-Con, and we start with the realm of the Penguin.

Talking about the theme of season 2, writer John Stephens said, “We wanted to trace the development of season 1 from old-time mobsters to trace the trajectory of the rise of the supervillains”.
