Dwight Howard admits he played through torn MCL, meniscus injury in playoffs

Howard was questionable for game two with what the Houston Rockets called a knee sprain but it turns out that Howard was dealing with a partially torn MCL and meniscus throughout the series, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPN. “Sacrifice your body, your mind, your spirit for your teammates and for the city and hope for the best”. Coming that close to an National Basketball Association Finals berth, especially in the barbaric Western Conference, is not an opportunity that comes around everyday, and Howard recognized that and left it all out on the hardwood for his team.

“You know when we lost it was like, man, I gave everything that I had”. After colliding with teammate Josh Smith in Game 1, Howard was hobbled with a knee injury. In the second game, he played 40 minutes, finishing with 19 points and 17 rebounds. “And it hurt, but we can make up for it this season”.

Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard went on a radio show Thursday night and acknowledged that his knee injury last season was much worse than what people thought.

Howard was reportedly told by team doctors that the knee injury didn’t require offseason surgery because the tears weren’t too severe so he just rested it.

Howard returned later in the game, and continued to play throughout the series.

That’s pretty incredible, considering D12 averaged 35 MPG in that series while snagging 14.4 rebounds a game and putting up the same in points.
