Rumor: Michael B. Jordan wanted as Boba Fett in Star Wars spinoff
Had everything gone to plan, Josh Trank’s Star Wars movie (rumoured to revolve around Boba Fett) would have been released in 2018. Here’s what Meet the Movie Press’ Jess Sneider said during the weekly podcast. According to Sneider, director F. Gary Gray (Fast & Furious 8, Straight Outta Compton) is not only being considered to direct the spinoff, but already has an actor in mind for the role.

“I heard that F. Gary Gray, after Straight Outta Compton, was only considering two movies”. That leaves literally two possibilities.
Jordan’s Fantastic Four director Josh Trank was originally attached to the film, so maybe that’s when his name was brought into the Boba Fett casting mix. I do think Boba Fett will be African-American. As great as Boba was, he had very little in the way of personality, and it’s hard to say what exactly he could get up to and in what period a movie starring the character could take place (between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope would probably make the most sense). If it’s true, if Lucasfilm is indeed searching for a black actor to take up the younger Fett’s mantle, then we can expect only one outcome: Boba Fett in the spinoff film will not be the original Boba Fett.
Additionally, he believes that Walt Disney Studios is making every effort to hire a non-white male director to helm the project to satisfy their new diversity mandate. I can tell for a fact that his is Mr Morrison and nobody else.

A few fans might question why Lucasfilm would consider Jordan to play Boba Fett because the one we met in Attack of the Clones wasn’t black, but anyone could wear the armor, so there’s a chance that we might not see his face in the spin-off film.
