FanDuel Daily Fantasy projections, Week 5: Tight ends

Both DraftKings and FanDuel agreed this week to immediately bar their employees from playing daily fantasy sports on other sites and said they are taking measures to ensure employees from other sites aren’t playing in their contests. New York’s attorney general has sent letters to daily fantasy sports websites DraftKings and FanDuel demanding they turn over details of any investigations into their employees on Tuesday, October 6, 2015.

Gambling charities are concerned that the expansion of fantasy gambling in the United Kingdom will harm younger and vulnerable gamblers, who they say are susceptible to major sports advertising campaigns.

However, that trust was shaken this week when it was revealed that after a data leak a DraftKings employee won $350,000 on FanDuel.

Waiting to put my son on the bus in the morning, I hear neighborhood moms discussing how their teams performed over the weekend. Those commissioner-style games, in which players select fantasy collections of real-life athletes via a draft, then pit their teams’ combined statistical outputs against one another over the course of a sport’s season, began as a fringe interest for hardcore baseball devotees. Thus, DraftKings could easily monitor users who worked for FanDuel or other sites to determine their winnings and whether there existed the possibility they were using inside information.

I wish I’d come up with the brilliant idea of fusing fantasy sports with Internet technology. In ads, both companies say they will give out more than $1 billion in 2015.

A 1991 opinion from former Attorney General Bob Butterworth specifically prohibits fantasy sports wagers. On top of the mounting scrutiny over daily fantasy leagues, this type of collusion is starting to bring questions on the legality and functionality of both companies. Though be careful in tournament play with him because I’m guessing everyone will want him in their lineup. This could be a great value play on Sunday!

The problem with daily fantasy sports is that they tell their customers that it’s their fault they lose. “Over the same period, FanDuel spent $74.5 million for a total of 21,545 national airings, up from 14,017 in 2014”.

While fantasy sports have gone digital, the rituals of getting together and ordering pizza on draft night endure. Johnson’s suit claims that this should have been done years ago, citing past comments made by Jason Robins, the chief executive of DraftKings, expressing concern about the fairness of his company’s policies on that practice.

Fanduel and DraftKings are the most popular and handle a majority of the marketplace.

All DraftKings and FanDuel did was prove all of their detractors’ points because, just like gambling, nobody beats the house. We have now taken all the legal steps necessary to become an LLC as an official DFS consulting firm.

If the companies were licensed casinos in Las Vegas, rules would govern who has access to what and when – it’s likely a team of badge-wearing law-enforcement investigators would already be looking into the situation.

The arrests and indictment followed a lengthy investigation by gaming regulators and fraud-control agents from MGM Resorts worldwide (parent company to the Bellagio) that included hours reviewing security video, checks of the men’s financial accounts, and interviews with co-workers and witnesses.

So why isn’t DFS considered gambling?

That distinction surely would have prevented the black eye day-to-day fantasy sports suffered final week when a DraftKings employee accidentally posted players’ ownership information prior to kickoff of the week 3 games.
