The Sherlock Special Trailer Has Arrived

If you were watching BBC One last night, you may have seen this beauty already. The one with the soggy bottoms.

Instead of being set in modern-day London, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are taking Holmes and Watson back to the 19th century.

There’s been talk of the special receiving a release in cinemas, but we’ve yet to hear anything concrete on that.

The best part about the trailer apart from our nutcrack high functioning socio-path and sane Doctor are Una Stubbs and Amanda Abbington in their Victorian dresses.

While everyone was on a wave of euphoria from the Great British Bake Off final, BBC One chose to drop us another treat – the first full-length trailer for the Sherlock Christmas special.

Blimey, they’re all at it – where are we, Detroit?

BBC surprised “Sherlock” fans with a ten-second teaser on its Facebook page. “Why did we make that silly mistake of updating it?'” series creator Steven Moffatt told the UK’s Express earlier this year.

What do you think of the Sherlock Special trailer?

The trailer shows the two detectives walking down crowded 19th-century England streets, running through foggy and dark alleys, discussing their ghosts from their respective pasts and Watson extremely angry at Sherlock’s refusal to wear his trademark deerstalker hat. No, the fourth season is not going to be out anytime soon.

Set apart from the continuity of the main show, the episode will be a stand-alone story with our heroes (played as usual by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman) investigating a seemingly impossible case. Although no specific date has been officially announced, a Sherlock Countdown account on Twitter said there are 79 days remaining until the special airs.

Each of the first three seasons of “Sherlock” only had three episodes apiece, but the TV series is very popular especially in its home country, the UK.
