Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus Player and Nexus 9 will get the current update for operating system. The G2 is already two years old so this would be unexpected for its owners.

The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow allows the device to kill or sleep unnecessary processes when the phone is idle, which conserves the battery. But a recent leak from Gizmo China at least gives Android users an idea, of which devices they can expect to receive Android 6.0.

For now though, it’s best for fans, especially the ones who are using the said devices and are subscribed to T-Mobile, to keep an eye out for further updates on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade. Users of LG smartphones G3 can check for the latest 5.1.1 Android Lollipop update manually simply by browsing to the settings menu About phone Software updates Check for updates.

Devices left out of the update include the Nexus 4 handset and Nexus 10 tablet.

A new power management feature dubbed as Doze which saves battery life by disabling unused resources when the device is unattended. This means users no longer need to connect the device to a computer, but they only need to wait for a notification of the update which that also comes with the option to install the new OS.

For now, the feature is only available to Android 6.0 users, and before you can get started, you’ll first have to have the Google Translate app on your phone. If you have a Nexus device, that is.

Looking ahead, Google plans to host an Android for Work Live online event on November 4. Hopefully there is a fix in-bound, as it would definitely suck to flash Marshmallow and then be stuck on 3G in more places, where you used to get LTE, especially in this day and age as 3G is super slow.

However Motorola makes very few tweaks to the software, offering customers an almost-pure Android experience, and therefore should be rolling out the update much faster than its main rivals.
