But despite the speculation – which included links with Arsenal and United – Gotze remains a Bayern player.

Germany and Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks by the groin injury he sustained in his country’s 1-0 loss to the Republic of Ireland on Thursday. He will be treated by Germany’s team doctors before returning to his club.
Gotze has been a key player for Pep Guardiola this season, playing in 11 of the 12 games thus far, while scoring four goals and providing two assists.
“We wish him a good recovery – I’m certain he’ll be back to his good form again”, added Germany coach Joachim Low.
Bayern have given no indication as to the severity of the injury but they have stated that Gotze will not be available for what could prove a pivotal meeting with Georgia on Sunday, with Germany still needing a point to guarantee their place in the finals in France.
“The 31-year-old sat out the Ireland match, with a message on the German team’s official Twitter account saying: “@BSchweinsteiger picked up an injury during the pre-match warm-up and will miss the game”.
And Low said afterwards with a view to the Georgia clash: “For Bastian Schweinsteiger we’ll have to wait and see”.
