Armed Robbery Suspect Tried Using Uber as Getaway vehicle, Police Say

The suspect in a late night armed robbery was spotted getting into the back of a Lexus that police would later learn was an Uber taxi picking up a fare, according to Baltimore County Police. The driver and a second passenger were nearly arrested. The logistical nightmare that is using Uber as your getaway vehicle is just not worth the trouble. Police claim he picked up a bottle of Tylenol cold medicine and put it on the counter.

After pulling the auto over, the man behind the wheel told cops he was an Uber driver, presumably adding that he was unaware of Cochran’s alleged misdeed. Police said he then pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money.

Authorities stopped the silver Lexus containing three men.

Uber drivers presumably pick up all kinds of passengers during a typical day, but an incident in Baltimore last week surely marks a first for the ride-hailing company.

Cochran was charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and theft of less than $1,000, ABC News reports.

As of this weekend, Cochran was still being held in police custody.

Meanwhile, Uber doesn’t really make a good getaway vehicle.

Getaway Cochran was spotted getting into the back of a silver Lexus Uber car which was later pulled over by police. Both the driver of the car ordered on a mobile app and the other passenger were released
