Bridgeport police received a call around 7:15 a.m. this past Monday of an attempted abduction at Boston and Palisade avenues.
Police arrested 38-year-old Towanna Randall of New Haven after tips came in from the people in the community who spotted her vehicle. Once the victim was in the vehicle, she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
She was being held in lieu of $100,000 bond after her arrest Saturday night.
“I say I’m proud of her for doing that”, said senior Kamaria Alston.
“This arrest is a testament to the talented and hardworking police officers and detectives in the Bridgeport Police Department”, said Bridgeport Assistant Police Chief James Nardozzi.
One of the first leads police reported in the case was that the auto used to conduct the abduction, a charcoal gray Toyota Yaris, was located in New Haven.
