How AP Top 25 Fared
The 2015 college football season is heading for the halfway point so here is a ranking of the college football conferences in 2015 after Week 6. LSU is the big victor, but changes are afoot throughout. Also joining them are the Florida Gators, who improved to 6-0 with a 21-3 win over Missouri.

LSU – Made the biggest move of anyone in these rankings after demolishing South Carolina in an away game in Baton Rouge. It’s interesting, as fans, to look at the polls, but the team needs to just focus on Boston College and move forward.
Either that, or we’ll continue to learn we don’t know anything about who the few elite teams are.
Florida – Tough year to be Will Muschamp – Jim McElwain comes into the Swamp and starts the year 6-0, while Auburn circles the drain. Michigan 13. Ole Miss 14.
Speaking of the Horned Frogs, they almost saw their undefeated season fall to the wayside until a big comeback from quarterback Trevone Boykin.
Obviously, Baylor and TCU play each other. They finished off Kansas State in another high-scoring dogfight and will be on the road in Ames this week – the city, not the department store.
When you actually compare the two schedules of Ohio State and Baylor, thus far, it sure looks like the Buckeyes have played a much tougher grid of games compared to the Bears. Their latest effort was a 66-7 demolition of hapless Kansas.
The Tigers are already 2-0 in SEC play, but have another four ranked SEC opponents still left on their schedule. Alabama stayed at #8 after beating Arkansas. Forgive me if I’m skeptical that this Alabama team is the same juggernaut we’re used to. They’ll take on crisis-mode USC this week (more on that later). Michigan is also in a position to make waves in the top half of the poll if it can knock off Michigan State at home this weekend. Utah is now a touchdown favorite and I do expect them to win, but watch out for my boy Jared Goff and the California Golden Bears.
What is MSU’s signature win right now? They lost at home to Washington State.
Stanford was off this week but moved up a spot to #15. Their best win according to FEI’s rankings is their road victory over Virginia Tech to start the season; that is the lone game where the Buckeyes covered the Vegas spread. The Wolverines have outscored their last three opponents, 97-0, which is simply ridiculous but can’t be ignored. Hosting Michigan State this week. Oklahoma State jumped five spots from #21 to #16 after they beat West Virginia 33-26 on the road in OT in a fun game to watch.
No. 22 Iowa (6-0) beat Illinois 29-20. I wrestled back and forth between Utah and Clemson for hours, until I finally picked the Utes. And what, pray tell, is a Ute?
Out of the top 25: Georgia and Southern California. Is Bob Stoops the John Cooper of Oklahoma football? TCU struggled with Kansas State and Ohio State has not looked very good all season, to be honest.
Temple – Destroyed Tulane and will host UCF this week. Michigan State (7) beat Rutgers 31-24, it’s second close call with a cellar-dweller in a row, so they dropped three places.
Ohio State fans can fret about late November wins.
Memphis – Debuting here this week on the strength of a 5-0 record. Beating Syracuse and Eastern Michigan – and struggling a bit – doesn’t help.
For weeks, I kept Ohio State at the top of my ballot based on returning talent. They have a week off to rest up for UCLA. But overall, in person, down on the field, Michigan has been more impressive than MSU, even with the loss. Notre Dame 15. Stanford 16.
No. 19 Georgia (4-2) lost to Tennessee 38-31. His seat is definitely heating up, but how hot is it?
