Officials said police received a call about suspicious men with guns on the block. No officers were injured. The officer returned fire and struck the man in the buttocks. Responding officers chased the suspects through a nearby neighborhood, but the gunmen were able to escape.

Police are in possession of the injured suspect’s handgun and a ammunition magazine. The gunmen, who were dressed in black, took an unknown amount of money. As the officers investigated, one of the men pointed a gun at the policemen and fired, he said. He will be booked in jail, once released from the hospital.

A silver 4 door Camry that was reported stolen was recovered from the scene. Detectives will determine if the vehicle was used in other crimes.

The suspect was shot after he allegedly fired on Officer Jacob Lundy, an eight year veteran of the department. He was wearing his body-worn-camera and the Public Integrity Bureau is in the process of reviewing the footage, according to police. Police say that Lundy will be reassigned pending the investigation.
