Two die in M1 crash

The accident involved a blue Mazda Premacy and a white Ford transit van close to junction 24 in Leicestershire at around 2am.

According to Sky News, an 87-year-old Mazda driver, and a 27-year-old passenger in the van it collided with, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The southbound carriageway is being worked on after the road surface sustained considerable damage during the incident.
