Argentina forward Aguero may miss next World Cup qualifier
The Premier League leaders were rocked on Thursday at the news that Sergio Aguero suffered a hamstring injury, one that left him in tears according to his club and global team-mate Nicolas Otamendi, during Argentina’s 2-0 defeat against Ecuador.

However, Aguero himself has said, after the Champions League win recently “he felt his hamstring” so there must have been a few concern about this!
This incident comes at an unfortunate moment for the Man City forward who was quoted as saying: “This is the best moment of my sports career….Since a year and a half ago, I’ve been constant”.
Buenos Aires: Argetina’s media has expressed discontent after their home defeat against Ecuador in the first match of the 2018 World Cup South American qualifiers.
Despite Argentina coach Gerardo Martino admitting Aguero had complained of a hamstring problem during last weekend’s five-goal performance against Newcastle, the former Barcelona manager insisted he had prepared properly for the game.
Martino says “during the week we took good care of him”.
They have failed to win any of their last 9 away World Cup Qualifiers and they have been beaten in 6 of those games. On Thursday night Argentina and Ecuador will square off.
Ecuador, meanwhile, are without one of their star players, with Enner Valencia still sidelined by a calf injury.
Felipe Caicedo, who has scored two goals in six Spanish La Liga appearances for Espanyol, will lead his national team’s attack.
Aguero has previously filled in the number 10 spot for Argentina in a friendly against United States following Messi’s approval and encouragement. Messi’s unavailability comes in the wake of strong criticism for the four-time Ballon d’Or victor after his perceived failure to perform to his usual high standards in either of Argentina’s failed final efforts.

Ecuador have not beaten Argentina in their last five encounters but have held the Albiceleste to draws in three of those games.
