A Texas city councilman has been stunned with a taser while on his knees and then arrested.

Jonathan Miller, 26, a councilman in Prairie View, has hit with the weapon by officers in the town as they were questioning suspects who had been inside his home around 8.30pm Thursday night.

Asked about witness accounts that apparently indicate that Miller did not resist arrest, Police Chief Larry Johnson said during a press conference on Friday: “We will do a complete investigation, we’re looking at all the facts surrounding that incident”.

NBC affiliate KPRC reports that Miller was only asking why the men were being arrested, according to a witness. The footage shows Miller falling to the ground and crying out in pain. Police pulled up and asked what they were doing, said the friends, and Miller came out to check on them.

One of the guests, Brandon Woodson, said the officers were aggressive for no reason and Miller was only questioning why they were being harassed. Soon after, a friend recorded the stun gun incident.

Police also recorded the incident with both body cameras and dash cameras.

Unfortunately, the response of the arresting officers at the incident demonstrate the abuse of power, the misplaced authority while the Prairie View Police Chief seemed to have rigid attitude. “The probability of having the same officer involved in multiple types of incidences is probable”, Prairie View Chief of Police Larry Johnson said. “Mr. Miller continued to resist, even after repeated commands to stop”.

Miller was accused of ignoring police orders to step away from the scene, according to arrest affidavits.

“After repeated commands to step back, Mr. Miller was told that he was being placed under arrest for interfering with the investigation”.

Johnson added that he hadn’t “seen anything that gives me cause for concern as far as at this point”.

He bonded out of the Waller County jail Friday morning.

A female officer then says, “He’s going to have to tase you”.

Witnesses said that Miller's fraternity brother were outside to change their shoes for a step routine when they were questioned by police. Above an officer carrying a Taser in body camera footage released by the police
