Florida QB Grier suspended for LSU game, rest of season

Helming an offense that was almost unwatchable last season, Grier has completed 106 passes for 1,204 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’ll go out and sign a top quarterback or two next spring, which really is what McElwain should have done in his first recruiting class. He’ll make it tough for Grier to win back his job next year, not because he doesn’t like the kid or believe he has real potential but because that’s the way this guy coaches. The second-ranked QB in the 2014 class, Grier took over for Harris as the starter in the second game of the season.

“I took an over-the-counter substance that had something in it and I did not check with the medical staff before taking it”, Grier said at a press conference on Monday. Driskel was 8-of-12 for 61 yards that day but the Florida defense, Will Muschamp’s pride and joy, came through. They had one offensive lineman who had started in an SEC game, and he was hurt.

Like any NCAA athlete, Grier knows the No. 1 rule before taking any over-the-counter substance. “We feel his pain”, McElwain said. “I don’t want anybody in here and anybody to forget we’re in this for these young men”, McElwain said. Harris enters today with 19 completions on 24 attempts for 269 yards and 2 touchdowns. Struggling to keep his composure, Grier said, “I really hope people can learn from this, learn from my mistake, and I’m really, really sorry to everyone”.

“We knew the whole week with the coverage South Carolina was playing we were going to have to be sharp”, Harris said. Redshirt freshman Will Grier is suspended for one year after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

According to NCAA rules, a first PED offense results in a full-season suspension (25 percent of a student-athlete’s total eligibility). College and professional athletes are told a zillion times not to take any supplements without checking with the medical staff first. Grier will practice with the team during the suspension, per McElwain. The Gators started unranked and have risen in the AP poll to No. 8 in the country heading into Saturday’s Southeastern Conference showdown against LSU.

Written by “JokerSloth” on the Gators’ 24/7 website, the tweet said: “Enjoy tonight cuz it’s our favorite player’s last game for a calendar year”.

“I mean, you just look at…an over-the-counter…” This website is an officially and independently operated source of news and information not affiliated with any school or team.

Run might be the key word, for Harris and his eighth-ranked Gators. If they could believe and show trust in him, things could go very well for Harris and the Gators. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Harris got the nod in Florida’s opener against New Mexico State and threw for more than 200 yards and two touchdowns. Earlier this season, Harris was suspended for the Tennessee game because of a failed drug test, according to ESPN, which was a school-issued punishment.
