$350 to watch the NBA Draft?

It can get awkward as we were able to notice Nerlens Noel noticing us while his draft stock kept falling.

But just how realistic is that?

Willie Cauley-Stein is one of the players that was asked to fill a specific role under Calipari.

Talented big man Aaric Murray – named the 2014 SWAC Player of the Year – surprisingly did not get a look from an NBA team after a dominant senior season at Texas Southern. I have opportunities to help inspire people all across the world [and] help them push through their own life problems, their struggles. Paul George may have not started a game past year, but it benefits the exercise to list him as a preferred starter on the Pacers, because he would’ve started every game had he been healthy.

Drafted initially by the Phoenix Suns in 2005, Gortat – the son of a Polish Olympian boxer who medaled in the ’72 and ’76 Games – did not play his first NBA game until the end of the 2008 season, after signing with the Orlando Magic.

With the 15th pick, the Atlanta Hawks select Sam Dekker.

Another pick that has trade written all over it, but lets not get into that right now.

This is the most startling revelation of the data.

So who are the players selected by the NBA to get their star on?

I may not have gotten to eat chicken fingers, boo the commissioner and argue with other fans in the cheap seats, but this was a fun draft that could become a memorable one – hopefully for good reasons.

It is reasonable to determine that since the SWAC, and black colleges in general, don’t acquire the elite prep talent that major Division 1 schools do, it is not likely a plethora of kids from those institutions flood into the draft. Second round picks do not have guaranteed contracts so adding more rounds would not affect the “try-out” process for those picked after the first round.

Fortunately, the probability of busts stop there. Some have suggested Winslow could be one of the best talents in this draft, getting him at #7 might be a steal.

What does all this mean? But by applying that logic you could theoretically shorten the draft to just one round and have even more players try out for teams. Above, we did our best at predicting how the top 30 picks will shake out. How often does that happen? However, a player can’t officially ink his name on the dotted line with a team until July 8. If it’s not a quarterback going in the first round, there’s an 80% chance you haven’t heard of them. That drops to 4.1 per year for the fifth pick and then again to 2.9 for the last lottery draft slot (No. 14). Therefore, you won’t be reading about Jahlil Okafor or Justise Winslow or Kristaps Porzingis because there’s no way those guys slip down to 14. That’s great news for him since the Lakers are the only team picking in the top 5 that have once a championship since the turn of the century.

After that, though, there’s a significant drop off. While each of the past eight drafts feature at least six starters, no draft before that has more than four starters.

Wolves president and coach Flip Saunders addressed the crowd after making the pick, and they put Towns on speakerphone to speak to the masses. It will be interesting to watch how he’s used at Cal this season, but if he can show the ability to knock down shots, he should be a lock to go top five. After leading Kansas to the national title, Manning was the first pick of the 1988 draft. But by expanding the draft, you reduce the probability of that happening as more players will be on each team’s radar.
