A few 300 people according to the resident at the scene begun to gather for a protest thanking Moscow for its recent intervention in the country after the rockets crashed into the embassy in the Mazraa neighbourhood.

It was not immediately clear if there were casualties.

The rocket strikes on the Russian embassy come after Syria’s Al Nusra Front called for retaliatory action in the wake of airstrikes in the country.

Al-Golani also called on Muslims in the former Soviet Union to attack Russian civilians if Russians target civilians in Syria. “An eye for an eye”, Abu Mohamed al-Jolani, the head of Nusra Front, said in an audio recording released late Monday.

He pledged that Moscow’s air war in Syria, which began on September 30, would have dire consequences for Russian Federation.
