I never Insulted Vincent Enyeama’s Mother – Sunday Oliseh

The NFF confirmed the meeting with Enyeama yesterday via their Twitter handle, but no further details were provided.

Super Eagles coached by Sunday Oliseh were defeated 2-0 in a match dominated by the Congolese. He was ordered to apologise to his team-mates for his late arrival and the CSKA Moscow winger Ahmed Musa has been given the captaincy instead. The first thing he said was that he invited four goalkeepers to camp because he never expected me to come to the camp.

In September, the goalkeeper failed to report to camp in Abuja for the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania, only for news to break that he had lost his mother. Oliseh is not what we need, he lacks the ability and capability, his leadership skills and man-management is not good for chasing one of the greatest in the Super Eagles out in that manner. I was in Nigeria and I stood up for Vincent because I felt that he shouldn’t be castigated for representing his team mates.

A lot of people have asked why Oliseh “overlooked” the likes of Mikel, Echiejile, Onazi and other senior members of the team and handed the captain’s band to 22-year-old Musa. The NFF will support and respect the decision of the Head Coach of any of the National Teams at all times.

Lawal praised record-capped Enyeama, who retired after 13 years in the Eagles team. I don’t know how it degenerated to the point where a coach and his captain will be involved in such kind of confrontation and such exchange of words which doesn’t make sense at all. “He is my captain”. You wait till your last game or your last match then you announce retirement.

The NFF president Amaju Pinnick and as his two vice-presidents – Seyi Akinwunmi and Shehu Dikko, are all in Belgium for the friendlies against Congo DR and Cameroon.

The Super Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) over the telephone that visas of the team’s backroom staff were also released.
