Passengers are also advised to print boarding passes in advance.

Southwest suffered intermittent technical issues on its website, mobile app and in its phone centers and airports check-in systems Sunday.

There are hundreds of flights under Southwest Airlines that were delayed because of “technology issues” on Sunday.

Southwest said about 450 flights were delayed and they expect more delays again today. “We’ll continue to work individually with our affected Customers to make this right”.

Southwest had to use backup systems and procedures to check in customers which led to the epic lines.

San Francisco, Oakland and Mineta San Jose global airports reported lines were not unusually long and flights were leaving and arriving on time, hours after the airline reported that “technology issues” were affecting customer check-in nationally.

Southwest says they have had more than 400 flights delayed because of these technical issues.

“Teams worked throughout the night…to ensure the smoothest operation of our originating and later flights”, Agnew told HuffPost in an email. Airports all over the country on Sunday were jammed with people, and the delays continued briefly into Monday morning.

Out of the 3600 daily flights in our schedule on Sunday, the airline operated with 75 percent ontime performance.

The computer problem even affects baggage.
