Police told KDFW that Thomas Johnson, 21, had admitted to carrying out the attack along the White Rock Creek Trail, and even called to report the crime shortly after it happened. Investigators believe Johnson was upset about recently being evicted from his home. Police allege that Johnson killed the jogger with a “large-edged weapon”. It’s just very unusual. Officials confirm the man was taken to an area hospital, but died from his injuries. The Dallas Morning News reported that the aunt told police that Johnson “had been causing problems in the family for a long period of time”.

I thought so, too, although admittedly I didn’t know Johnson beyond the times I talked with him after football practices, or after games, or on that day when he signed with Texas A&M.

Police said the murder involving Johnson is not connected to the killing on an 18-year-old girl who was found dead in a minivan in a creek near the trail about a half hour after the jogger was found.
