Ford Focus RS Will Be Sleeper Success In US

The Focus RS will be the first Ford sold in the United States with a “stall recovery” system, in case you choke when you try to get going again. Now, it turns out, that was conservative.

Hot-hatch enthusiasts are basically foaming at the mouth for Ford’s latest Focus RS – and with 350 horsepower on tap, all-wheel drive, and a dedicated drift mode, they very well should be.

Meanwhile, while we’re yet to see a final power curve, Ford is promising “especially chunky midrange power delivery”. That makes for an impressive specific output of 152 hp per liter, courtesy of a turbo that can produce up to 23.2 psi of boost.

In the RS, however, the computer figures out what happened, and restarts the engine as soon as you press the clutch, even as the transmission remains in first gear, so you don’t have to wait long for the opportunity to embarrass yourself again.

Still, that six-speed manual isn’t dumb either.

Ford also announced that the engine’s auto stop-start feature will have an additional function. With the details we have right now, we have no doubt that the Ford Focus RS will have no problem taking on their competitors and it looks like Ford is not the only one that has to work on being the fastest.

People are hoping that the 2016 Ford Focus RS is going to be more reliable than the vehicle on the market at the moment as a few owners have had issues in the past.
