Clinton has also been accused of doing a course reversal on issues important to the Democratic base, like same-sex marriage and immigration, including whether she supports allowing undocumented people to obtain driver’s licenses. On either side of Clinton, the highest-polling candidate, are Bernie Sanders (to Clinton’s right) and Martin O’Malley (to her left).

CNN/ORC polls in the early voting states of Nevada and South Carolina show Clinton and Sanders as the clear favorites going into the debate. How will the other four challenge her over policy? They have always been battling each other in head-to-head polls.

Trump appeared on Fox News’ Hannity shortly after Clinton’s surprise speech, but was not asked about her comments and did not make any comments of his own in response to what she said at the rally.

He is critical of Clinton for her recent shifts on policy issues, among them her opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, which he calls a “reversal”.

This is not overly surprising as Bernie Sanders has been gaining on Clinton and lessening her lead for a little over a month now.

One unknown is whether any of her challengers will jab at Clinton for her use of a private email account and server while serving as secretary of state.

She’s said little about him in the campaign so far, preferring to state what she’s for and against and not talk about his positions. No word on where a podium for Joe Biden will be placed should he decide to participate.

“The Trump workers say: “Start it here”. So we likely won’t see Sanders make any comments about Clinton’s face (like Republican hopeful Donald Trump did about his rival Carly Fiorina), or her hair for that matter, but will he attack her record? His goal will be a simple one: to introduce himself in a positive light – with a particularly well-timed one-liner or two as an added bonus – to the millions of Democratic voters who still have no idea who he is. The debate will be broadcast at the same time as key Major League Baseball playoff games.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton speaks…

After months of campaigning, the five Democratic presidential candidates will go toe-to-toe on the national stage tonight at the Wynn Las Vegas. For Martin O’Malley, Lincoln Chaffee and Jim Webb, the road to widespread appeal among Democrats has been much more hard.

“The debates will alter the race”, said Stephanie Cutter, a Democratic strategist and top staffer in President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.

“This is a chance for him to establish a rationale for his candidacy, which so far has been missing”, Manley said.
