Brendan Rodgers has had a few positive things to say about Liverpool’s young
The Dublin native, who also travelled with the club on their pre-season tour to Thailand, Australia, and Malaysia during the summer, trained with the squad ahead of tonight’s game against FC Sion at Anfield.

Liverpool players Daniel Sturridge, centre, and Joe Gomez shown jogging during a team training session on Wednesday for their Europa League match against FC Sion on Thursday. “For this game, of course there were a number of players we needed to be careful with – players like Daniel (Sturridge) that were coming back from injury”.
“It is still very early on in the season and we are making progress as we go along and we have a few outstanding players to come back into the reckoning”.
“I have seen developments in all aspects of his play over the last couple of years”. I wouldn’t have any concern about him being selected.
That means Divock Origi is likely to get a rare start up front as Rodger shuffles his team with a Merseyside derby at Goodison Park looming on Sunday.
On Sturridge, though, Rodgers said: “He’s fresh and fit and looking forward to the game this weekend”.
For the section of Liverpool support who are already fed up with their club’s current boss, his comments following the aforementioned Thursday night European game will come as little comfort.
“There have been a lot of things said outside the club at this moment”. The support we get is fantastic and they can help us so much.
The poor performances at the start of the Champions League campaign this season have raised the possibility of England losing one of its four places in Uefa’s flagship tournament. If Liverpool defeat Sion and Sturridge scores the victor against Everton then Rodgers would certainly have made the right decision but we will have to wait for the weekend to determine that. Will a fraction of an eye be enough for them to spot whatever Sion have got to throw at them?
