Journalists present at the scene stated that around 300 people started to gather for a demonstration to support Russian Federation for its recent involvement in Syria when the rockets crashed into the embassy in the Mazraa neighbourhood of the capital.
Russian Federation began launching airstrikes in Syria on September 30, allowing Syrian government forces to launch a multi-pronged ground assault.
Russia wants to “create conditions for a political compromise” in Syria, he told Russian state TV.
The attack comes after after al-Qaida’s branch in Syria, al-Nusra, called for retaliation against the Russian airstrikes and the Syrian government. Combatants from the opposition had pursued the embassy in the past, but whether or not the attack was aimed at the ongoing rally remains unclear, according to USA Today.
Sahl al-Ghab at the intersection of Hama, Latakia and Idlib provinces has been a major target for Russian air strikes.
“Two rockets hit embassy territory at 10:15am (local time)”. One shell landed outside a sports club in al-Barada, the other in the al-Adawi [districts].
“Delay the disputes until the demise and smashing of the Western Crusader and Russian campaign on Syrian land”, he said.
Jolani also called on armed groups to “hurl hundreds of rockets” daily at villages inhabited by the Alawite minority, the sect from which President Bashar al-Assad hails.

“It is the first repatriation to be conducted directly via Damascus worldwide Airport since 2011”, said KBRI Damascus spokesperson AM Sidqi in a press release on Tuesday as quoted by Antara news agency.
