Standoff ends in Mississippi with suspect dead
Brookhaven Police are involved in a standoff with a man barricaded inside a Brookhaven Apartment complex. He then barricaded himself in the apartment, where he continued to shoot out a bedroom window.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain said the officer’s injuries were not life-threatening.
Authorities are saying very little at this point, but neighbors say the man holding off police is Toby Smith, and they believe he was about to be evicted from this apartment.
Authorities aren’t sure if the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound or if he had shot himself.
Strain said local authorities asked the Mississippi Highway Patrol to send its SWAT Team to the apartments. It was unclear whether the officer was wounded by gunfire or hit by shrapnel.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing a lot of gunfire and electricity in the area was cut off. Brookhaven Police Chief Bobby Bell later told reporters no one had been shot.
