Leicester City transfer rumours: Chris Wood chooses Leeds United over Wolves

On his way out of the King Power Stadium after failing to hold down a regular first team spot at Leicester City, the New Zealand striker is also a target for Wolves and Leeds United.

Wolves are thought to have had an initial bid for Wood knocked back, but went back with an improved offer which met Leicester’s valuation.

Wood’s days at Leicester are numbered with Foxes keen to recoup a seven-figure fee of £2.5m for his services – having just spent £7m on Japanese striker Shinji Okazaki, who has arrived at the club from Bundesliga side Mainz.

QPR were also said to enquired about Wood’s situation.

Wood scored on the opening day of last season for Leicester in a 2-2 Premier League draw with Everton.

In addition to Chris Wood, young winger Brandon Barker is set to join Leeds on a season-long loan from Manchester City, giving Leeds another much needed option out wide.

Wood has previously played for Wolves manager Kenny Jackett when the two were at Millwall in 2012, but it is reported that Wood is close to agreeing a four-deal with the Yorkshire club.

He was sent to Ipswich towards the end of last season for a short spell and admitted that he was looking for stability.

Wood, who has a year left on his Leicester contract, struck a late victor in Millwall’s 1-0 success over Leeds at the New Den in November 2012.
