Rinspeed Etos: Autonomous Sports auto With A Helper Drone

The drone itself is capable of fetching and receiving things – for instance, the owner can direct the drone to pick-up a bouquet of flowers and deliver it to a recipient, according to Mashable.

“The major and especially the disruptive innovations in future automotive engineering will come from the digital realm”, Frank Rinderknecht, founder and CEO of Rinspeed, stated in the press release.

While the juicy details are being kept for the world premiere at CES 2016 (January 6-9, 2016), Rinspeed said that the Ʃtos is a driverless vehicle which features an intuitive, adaptive autopilot capable of learning. The interior can be adapted to any particular driving situation and it can enter into an autonomous mode, in which the steering wheel folds up elegantly and retracts completely into the dashboard, as Rinspeed informed. Judging from the provided image, the Rinspeed Etos is one of the most stylish concept cars Rinspeed has created so far.

Rinspeed Etos is one of the most renowned auto makers in Switzerland. Drones that follow their owners via a Global Positioning System tracker already exist and are used for shooting surfing videos, but cars are rather faster than surfboards – and consumer drones, for that matter – so unfortunately this also reads a bit like a fairy tale.

It seems next year will be no different, as Rinspeed will be showing this oddball Etos concept at January’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Apart from that, the pair of in-dash infotainment screens will then move closer toward the front occupants in order for the to have a better view.

Cars are no doubt getting smarter and smarter by the day, and it is no surprise with the kind of technological improvements added and thrown into the mix.

Stos features Harman Connected vehicle technologies that operate in a thinking, courteous and anticipatory manner. Rinspeed says the drone provides a host of benefits, including picking up and delivering packages.

Described as the first “autonomous hybrid sports auto”, Rinspeed wants to take the humdrum out of traffic, but keep the speed and fun-loving nature of a sportscar when blasting through your favorite sections of road.
