Did The Walking Dead premiere break its own record?

Season one of the spin-off series “Fear the Walking Dead” wrapped up with a cliffhanger which sees the characters trying to escape the zombies in Los Angeles by getting offshore aboard Strand’s yacht called “Abigail”. Deadline reports that the season premiere attracted 14.6 million viewers (9.4 million in the 18-49 demographic and a 7.43 Nielsen rating), which is down from both the season five and season four debuts – but still the third-highest watched “Walking Dead” season premiere in the show’s history. It was Sunday night’s top overall broadcast in adults 18-49 and the night’s #3 overall program (behind Sunday Night Football and CBS’ football- and Obama-boosted “60 Minutes”) in total viewers.

He also said that there will be a few “cool stuff coming” as the show addresses the viewers’ conjectures that maybe the characters are safer on water than on land.

Versus its Season 5 finale, the episode was down 8 and 11 percent.
