Google Cardboard is best known for being dead simple, a VR experience that requires only cardboard and a smartphone to become a DIY VR headset.

Ultimately, it’s one of the smartest apps ever made-and it’s one that really only Google could really make, thanks to all the information about you it has. Virtual reality should make it a more immersive experience, at least.
Google is known for creating hidden surprises in most of its offerings and for Android users each version of the platform has something special.
Monday’s news follows Google’s recent announcement that it’s working to take its school-focused VR Expeditions initiative to more classrooms around the world.
According to the same report, the success was mainly attributed to the fact that this is the avenue where users could actually experience virtual reality for the first time.
“Google Street View now works with Cardboard, so just update the app for iOS or Android and pop Cardboard onto your device”, added the same report.
To transport yourself to a destination, simply type the place into the search bar and wait for Street View locations to populate.
But car-captured street scenes aren’t the only views to be found in VR on Street View.
Mr Harding-Rolls said it was interesting that Google had chosen an educational route with VR while other firms concentrated on gaming and other forms of entertainment for the technology.
Meanwhile, TechCrunch noted that Google is doing a pretty good job with the Cardboard since it now has 15 million installs.
The researchers used the data gathered from app called Device Analyzer which give them an insight into how people use their smartphones and allowed them to extract patterns and trends.
“When it was released it was seen as a bit of a gimmick but it is playing a role in educating consumers about virtual reality”, he added.
