‘Dancing With the Stars’ News: Partners Switched Up
So Alexa didn’t have the easiest time last week, and her partner Mark Ballas actually prepped her for getting eliminated. Instead, the scores received on Monday night will be combined with last week’s scores. Tamar and louis had a short time to get used to each other.

It is always good to see Maks in the ballroom, even if it is just to be a guest judge! The dances are twice as long this week as previous dances.
Hayes’ voice cracks because he’s still going through puberty while Allison’s maternal instincts kick in and she treats him like her dance son. Bruno says Hayes is the ideal Prince Charming. Tom Bergeron returns and thanks everyone for their support after he was off taking care of his sick dad last week. Maks is Team Bruno and says there wasn’t enough Viennese waltz content, and Hayes looked too much like he was just trying not to mess up. If you have reason to believe that any written material or image has been innocently infringed, please bring it to the immediate attention of CDN via the e-mail address or phone number listed on the Contact page so that it can be resolved expeditiously. And Mark goes Full Ballas for this routine, Southern accent and all.
Can Paula prove she’s worthy of winning the coveted Mirror Ball trophy next week?
Backstage, Paula is trying to flash Louis. Maks said she has toned legs so she could have done more Jive. After their dance, Erin Andrews played matchmaker and Emma agreed to a date with Alek. Hopefully Lindsay’s spark can raise the hunk out of his funk! On tonight’s episode the 9 couples danced to a different style of dance, including the Jive, Cha Cha and Tango. It’s the first routine I didn’t take my eyes off of tonight, and all the judges seem to feel the same way.
Maks said that the dancers seemed disconnected. Alek said she’s so hot, he can’t keep his cool.
Carrie Ann disagrees and the crowd cheers.
Fall TV Popularity Contest: Which new shows won you over? She received the first 10s across the board this season. That million-dollar smile is infectious, and she matches Val step for step. Bruno called it a metamorphosis, and the couple received a ideal score. “She’s like bad grandma”, he said.
Julianne: She offers advice on where to improve. To achieve at least half his goal, this week Carlos has to get through a quickstep with Lindsay. (Maybe it’s because she doesn’t know who or what the Dalai Lama is.) His energy and exuberance is fantastic though, and it looks like he doesn’t miss a bit during this insanely, well, quick quickstep. This is the toughest routine for Tamar to date; he’s pushing her as much as he would push a pro like Karina. Good to see dapper Maks back as well. She kills it and gets a standing ovation from Carrie Ann Inaba, even though she may have thought it was a Paso Doble. Julianne calls Alexa a “raw vixen”. Then Paula asked Maks to come home with her!
Andy Grammer and Sharna Burgess: According to the judges, Andy has yet to live up to his potential, but this week he cancelled a concert in order to focus on his Argentine tango. And, for the second half of the dance, he finally embraces that “selling the performance” technique that Sharna was coaching him on.
Bruno: She missed a few things, but he likes her personality and performance. What’s that saying about laws and sausages?
Julianne said he nailed the musicality and the footwork. Too low. Not fair at all, for the amount of great dancing she did.
Carrie Ann: You took yourself to another level.
Sammi: It was his comeback dance and if he is in the bottom two again next week I will be shocked.
This week, we get a partner swap-a-roo as “The Switchup” shifts celeb and pro pairings for a one-night only engagement. And apparently, like Joan Jett, the judges love rock “n” roll. My condolences to the Bergeron family and sending all my love and prayers.
And that’s a wrap. Who was your favorite Switch-Up partnership? So who got the first flawless score? And who do you think will be eliminated next week? Derek lets her know she should use the mess-up last week as inspiration.
