NYCC 2015: Cinemax Releases First Outcast Trailer

With The Walking Dead set to return on Sunday night, creator Robert Kirkman’s next series titled Outcast is preparing for a 2016 debut on Cinemax.

Outcast is a comic book series from Skybound/Image that recounts the account of evil spirit ownership, thus, as TVLine puts it, the “strolling accursed” instead of the “strolling dead”.

Even though the comic series itself is little more than a year old, the tale of Kyle Barnes, a Southerner who has been mixed up with demonic possession his whole life is a fairly gripping story already. And that’s exactly what’s happening with Outcast, which will be coming to Cinemax next year. Now, with the help of the Reverend Anderson (Philip Glenister), a preacher with demons of his own, Kyle embarks on a journey to find answers and regain the normal life he lost.

Given that Cinemax released the first trailer for their show Outcast back in July to coincide with the San Diego Comic Con, it’s only fitting that they released a new trailer over the weekend to coincide with the New York Comic Con.

Patrick Fugit (“Gone Girl”) stars as Barnes, a man searching for answers, and for redemption, who sequesters himself from those he loves for fear of causing greater hurt. Whether the idea of demonic possession is more plausible than zombies depends on your personal beliefs, but we should be able to count on Kirkman and Outcast’s showrunner (Chris Black) to keep that fine line once again.
