Engine Fire Forces Allegiant Jet To Abort Take Off
A spokesperson for McCarran Airport told News 3 that no injuries were reported and the fire was quickly contained aboard Allegiant Flight 516 which was scheduled for a 12:55pm departure.

In June, flights at St. Pete-Clearwater worldwide Airport in Florida were canceled after a plane was forced to land because of pressurization problems. There were 160 passengers and six crew members on board.
The airline said the pilot aborted takeoff and reported the fire as the McDonnell Douglas MD-80 was rolling down the runway after indications of a mechanical issue. The plane taxied to a remote area and was met by firefighters. The Clark County Fire Department says a small fire was noticed in the engine compartment, but Allegiant is only calling it a mechanical issue.
All passengers were escorted out the back of the plane and shuttled back to the terminal.
Another passenger, Mike Scott began posting updates about the replacement flight for the stranded passengers. His post said the plane’s crew said it was just a precaution.

The pilot had reported a fire in one of the plane’s two engines, airport spokesman Chris Jones told the Las Vegas Review-Journal in August, clarifying that it didn’t necessarily mean that the engine caught fire.
