Canon PowerShot G5 X, EOS M10 now official, G9 X included
Apart from that, the Canon EOS M10 camera will arrive with a new retractable EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens, where it will shorten and lock into a compact size whenever it is not in use.

Canon today announced the new Canon EOS M10, a new entry-level mirrorless camera that will be sold alongside the more advanced M3, which made its U.S. debut this month. It will also be powered by Canon’s DIGIC 6 processor and will also be able to capture Full HD video at 24/30FPS.
For creative freedom that lets you capture both the beauty in light or intrigue in shadow, with DIGIC 6 the EOS M10 picks up more light in every pixel and reduces noise.
Borrowing numerous features and design from the earlier Canon EOS M2, which never officially made it to USA shores, the new EOS M10 takes a step beyond the M2 with a newer image processor and improved image quality, as well as a few cosmetic and operability enhancements. The lens itself will also be available separately for $300. The camera arrived in Canon’s store with no press release or price, but judging by the specs, it’s essentially a stripped-down version of the M3. It’s priced at $529.99 and will also go on sale in November.
“We continue to strive to provide photographers with a range of imaging equipment options to support each individual shooting style while still providing the features, usability, and performance they expect from a Canon camera”, said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO of Canon United States of America, Inc.
The goal of the EOS M10 is to provide step-up users – be it from just a smartphone or from a compact camera – interchangeable lens camera image quality and features in a compact and easy to use package.
The G9 X shares the same 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor as the G5 X but in a much smaller body with no viewfinder and a fixed rear screen.
The camera has NFC and Wi-Fi capabilities that facilitate easy sharing of photos via its dedicated mobile app.
Enhanced controls include top-mounted mode and exposure compensation dials, front and rear control dials, and a control ring around the lens.
The camera’s intuitive three-inch LCD touch panel with a new user interface allows for quick and easy changes to camera settings even while taking pictures.
The G9 X can shoot up to six frames per second with its 20.2 megapixel CMOS sensor to make sure you don’t miss a shot.
Slim and lightweight, the PowerShot G9 X is the camera photographers will want to show off to their friends as much as they shoot with it. The camera features a bright f/2.0 – f/4.9, 3x Canon Optical Zoom Lens (focal length range equivalent to 28-84mm) along with Canon’s Intelligent Image Stabilization (IS) system for virtually shake-free images in a wide variety of shooting conditions. Old high-end compact cameras, PowerShots included, used 1/1.7-inch sensors not a whole lot larger than the 1/2.3-inch sensors used in point-and-shoot compact cameras. It will be offered in two colours: black and silver with brown leather trimming.

Both cameras offer automatic and manual operation and a choice of RAW as well as JPEG recording modes for still photos.
