Jason coming back to life for Friday the 13th game
As it turns out, the team over at Gun Media feels the same way. Will you wait to see how it plays when it releases? The primary pitch for the game is that it is a 1v7 multiplayer game set in the semi-open world of Camp Crystal Lake, however the game is slated to have a single player component to it as well based on the performance of the Kickstarter.

In their Kickstarter announcement, developer Gun Media also announced that they had signed on Kane Hodder, the actor who portrayed serial slasher Jason Voorhees in three installments of the series, to provide motion capture for the serial killer in-game, as well as a number of stunt professionals to mo-cap the many deaths that can happen.
“It’s been almost 30 years since fans have had the opportunity to experience a Friday the 13th video game.” explained Sean S. Cunningham, creator of the Friday the 13th franchise. It’s a hefty sum, and gamers are more cautious than ever when it comes to crowdfunding games – and, while there’s probably a bit more going on behind the scenes, it is a little unusual that such a big property can’t fund its own game. Cunningham was the director and producer for the original Friday the 13th movie.
So far the game has an estimated time of release of a year from now, October 2016 but of course that can always change.
Friday the 13th: The Game runs on Epic’s Unreal Engine 4, and looks quite nice, even in its unfinished state now.
You’d think that one of the greatest horror icons of all time would translate into a ridiculously unbelievable video game character… but, sadly, that’s not the case with Jason Voorhees.
“Sean came to us in early 2015, but we quickly discovered these weren’t the normal business conversations you would have when you try to secure a license as important as Friday the 13th”, the Kickstarter page reads.
Bloody Disgusting reports that Gun Media has officially announced that their game Summer Camp is actually Friday the 13th: The Game.
It’s a win for both sides. It could also be a way for the developers to gain traction and possibly work with a publisher. “We want to share that control, with you, not a publisher”.

Let us know, would you be interested in playing a Friday the 13 horror title? “Collectively, we wanted to make certain that this game delivers the same kind of fun, brutal scares and creative kills that the franchise is known for and didn’t want to risk having to tell our story with a “T” for Teen rating”.
